Aerosol Workshops!

Saturday 25th October, 2014, by La Fleur

Today, one of the in house artists at Cold Krush, Fleur, facilitated an aerosol workshop. Today's workshop gave the participants new skills about can cantrol, and how the brands of spray paint operate with different caps used.

Many brands that are on the market specialise in Canvas work and Mural work.  There are plenty of caps on the market too! The different caps for the spraycans are on a scale for Skinny/Thin (for more detailed work) to Extra Fat (to fill in larger areas quickly). We understand that some people may find, at first, this type of art form to be challenging. To start off with we begin the workshop with an introduction to all the aeorsol paint stocked at Cold Krush and the different caps you can use for the different cans. We personally love the Montana level caps, Grey hoods and the classic NY Fat cap, our particpants fell in love with these pretty quickly too.

If your interested in taking part in Cold Krush's next workshop, mark your calanders for the Summer Holidays as there will likely be a workshop then, or to secure your place now please register your interest by contacting us to ensure you're kept up to date with any news for our next Aerosol Workshops.

Fleur was so happy to have kicked some knowledge to these particpants today, and we all really hope they continue their artistic endeavours as they are all very gifted and natural born sprayers!

Cold Krush Supports: Freestyle Session (Australian Qualifier)

Tiper, Orbs, Fredrock, Tarns 'NA Crew'

Cold Krush is always supporting events for the love of Hip hop and all the elements that come with it!..

Sponsored by Cold Krush Store/ Gallery and MTN Australia, The NA crew combined their styles and created an backdrop of pure heat for the Freestyle Session Australian Qualifier - Breaking battles that rocked the Australian Dance Theatre in Hawthorn on Saturday the 13th of September, 2014.

The competition was fierce, and there was so much heat packed into the day. Australia and New Zealand's best breakdancers battled it out for the title to represent the country at the world finals in San Diego, California.

A huge successful event, and wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for 'PoeOne' the organiser and international winner of breakdancing competition just like this one.

GROTS: Exclusive Interview with Cold Krush

2ND SEPTEMBER, 2014, BY LA FLEUR

He’s a man of many hats; lead singer of a mathcore band ‘A Ghost Orchesta’ and a man who paints the town green when quiet Adelaide goes to sleep. We are excited to announce his first solo exhibtion will open at Cold Krush on Friday, 5th of September (6-9pm). I Sat down with The Dreadful Grots, and asked a few questions to find out what makes this guy tick.

F: When did you start writing?

G: Well I first started doodling on paper and down alleyways in 2001 when it was all fresh to me, but I guess going out of my neighbour hood and trying to get my name up properly would be 2003/2004.

F: What was your inspiration to pick up a can for the first time?

G: Growing up on the B-line side of town and seeing old ‘Sumn’ and ‘Okur’ bangers floating on the line really got my eyes jiggling (these were the only ones I could read before I knew what graffiti pieces properly were. I use to find old scraps of paint hanging around the Lynton tunnel and would use them to my advantage.

F: What Crews do you rep?

G: F1, EG, TGB's yo!

F: Who are your main influences in the Graffiti Game?

G: To myself as a painter are my brothers around me, Vans the Omega, Roger, Ogre, Guids, Sirum, and Okies. They get me Rollin!

F: Do you have a favourite memory to share?

G: Its hard to pin point a "favourite" memory but jesus, every time that wonderful paint hits that boring grey wall is fantastic. Meeting and having the chance to paint with some all time favs does make me jolly!

F: What’s on the horizon?

G: The next big project for me is to push my boundaries a little more each time those pigments hit the wall. I want to make things enjoyable for the non-graffiti eye to freshen up to.

F: What are your other interests?

G: The other side of my life is music. I’m a vocalist in a southern hardcore type band called 'A Ghost Orchestra'. Most hip hop heads probably won't like the sound of it but check it out anyway!

F: Do you have any tips or advice for the up and comers?

G: Be yourself, don't worry what other writers say. Live life on the fresh side!
